riding the bus
i am addicted to riding the bus in seoul. i've been a faithful subway rider for 4 years, mostly because i couldn't understand the announcements on the bus and, thus, never knew where to get off. ~lol~ however, now that i can understand a bit better, the bus is less scary.
still, riding the bus is a bit of a crapshoot. if you can sit down, you get a lovely sightseeing tour of the city that includes places far from the subway stations (my normal wandering ground). however, if you have to stand, you may be packed in like a sardine, get seasick, and/or have your arm pulled out of its socket every time the bus driver abruptly slams on the brakes.
lately, though, the thought of being able to see out a window while riding on the ol' mass transit has me hooked. i'll even wait for the bus when the subway would be faster. i just want to look outside.
outside is nice, sometimes, even in the big, polluted city.

yessss! i've always very much prefered the bus here. but you're right about it being either extremely pleasant or a not so fun rollercoaster ride. my one friend described seoul bus drivers' driving technique, "as if they just stole the bus and are involved in a chase with the police"
Nice post! I totally agree too... I've just finally figured out the buses that go past my place directly to Sinchon and have started using those...
Awesome colors in that shot, too!
ha! shannon, that's so perfect! i am so happy not to be a bus driver in seoul. ~lol~
dude, mark, awesome! that's a lot faster than transferring.^^ i wish i'd had my good camera, took that shot with my crappy point & shoot. was just reading this article in the times (http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/04/technology/personaltech/04pogue.html) and wanted to go out and get a new point & shoot. but will probably just save for a dslr.
