two holidays, belatedly

in honor of lunar new year and valentine's day, which both fell on the same date this year...

ddeok-guk (떡국) -- rice cake soup.  in korea, you turn one year older at the new year, not on your birthday.  (though, i'm not sure if it's one year older on the january 1 new year or on the lunar new year... does anyone know?)  this soup is traditionally eaten over the lunar new year's holiday to make you grow one year older.

Nut to you, valentine!  brought to you by the bakery chain Paris Croissant.  at least they didn't add an "s" to nut.  ~lol~

Hi. Children turn a year older with each passing of a Lunar New Year. That soup is making me hungry! :)

LOL. Makes me miss Korea. Have you ever been to the ice cream shop, "Cold Stone Creamery" in Seoul? The shop features a type of dessert called, "Sweet Nut Cold Shower." When my husband and I were visiting last year, we thought it was hilarious. We actually love Cold Stone Creamery, but the shops here in the US would never feature such a dessert! :D

Actually, come to think of it, I don't think I ever posted the photo to my blog...I SO need to do that.
