the neighbourhood

Hooray, photo-posting works tonight! Here are a few photos of my neighbourhood.

day:

night:

the kimbap place i eat at all the time because it's one of the few places where i know the names of dishes to order ~lol~ (yep, my co-workers are walking in for a late dinner):

last weekend i walked with a few co-workers to this crazy store called TechnoMart. it's about a 30 minute walk from Cheonho to the store, and you cross one of the many bridges spanning the Han River to get there.

on the walk home, views of Cheonho from the Cheonho bridge:

hrm. this is a rather dull post. i am a bit tired today, have been staying up too late. ~insert sheepish grin~ what's new, though, ay? OH. ay. uh-oh. the canadians at work are slowly infiltrating my speech patterns. i'll sound more canadian than anything else by the end of the year. they outnumber the american teachers at work, 5 to 4, and their accents are all much more powerful than ours. help. :)

will leave you with a horribly blurry photo of a cheap cute hat i picked up to replace my uglyboringtoosmallblack winter hat. g'night!

Hey Sara!
Hope all is well. Your pics are so fun to see. What a cool experience. (and love the hat!) I'd so love to come see you this year!
I have a friend trying to recruit people to join him on a return trip to Thailand. The pics from his first trip were incredible. Hey, maybe I could take a quick trip to the other side of the world and drop by both countries?! (yes I realize they're not exactly next door to each other.) Not sure if Dan could live without me for an extended time (from a babysitter standpoint, not loving wife standpoint of course!) We'll have to see I guess. Will email you a more in-depth note later... Get some sleep!
Love,
Tara

Sorry about that email I sent you last night. Just put it down to hormones and whiskey, okay? =/

Hugs!

Sara, Thanks for the pics--as Jan and I were viewing them, we decided it was a "day shavooo" all over again--especially the restaurants with the photos of the food. Don't you think it makes it easy to order a meal? Our favorites are bugogee (sp) and mild kimchee over rice.
No kidding those kids will tire you out, but that's normal --just ask any other teacher.. Keep the pics coming. Love, Unc Dave and Auntie Jan

More cool pic's! You really do a great job with the camera. Are you enjoying the food? What is your favorite dish so far? Are the dishes there at all like the food you would get at a Korean restruaunt in the US? Is food expensive there?
I saw in one of your pictures a textile market. What kind of textiles do they sell? silk? cotton? polyester? Is it textiles for clothing or for drapes and furniture stuff?
How is the new work schedule?
Why are you staying up too late? Don't you just sleep later in the morning? I have one friend who would go to bed at 4am and wake up around noon (at the earliest) if he followed his biological clock. Unfortunately he has a day job. His daugther has the same biological clock. Since your teaching doesn't start till 2pm your could sleep later in the morning. Of course that means you have do whatever you need to do in prep work the night before.
Sorry for all the questions, but I'm curious As the ad says Enquiring minds want to know?:)
Love you
Your curious Aunt Nancy
