trees! green! mountains! fresh air!

dude. i love gyeongju (formally spelled kyungju). had such a lovely weekend.

Many areas of Gyeongju are designated as UNESCO world heritage sites. Geyongju was the capital of Korea during the Silla dynasty, the first Korean dynasty (688-935). I think it's pronounced "shilla".

Anyhoo, UNESCO has an okay photo tour of Gyeongju's many world heritage sites here. We went to see Bulguksa Temple and the Seokguram Grotto, in addition to walking through Tumuli Park, the Hwangryonsa Temple Site, Anapchi Pond, and at least three other parks. I can't remember all of the names. We arrived Saturday evening, went to an outdoor performance and walked through an old palace area and a park with tombs of Silla royalty. Sunday we woke up at 5:45 to make it to Bulguksa before the massive crowds appeared. It's peak traveling season in Korea from now through August or September. In the spring and fall, many schools take their kids on trips throughout the country. Gyeongju is a popular spot.

Wow, very cool!! Thanks for the pix. I hope you're feeling more relaxed. :) Mom and Dad Thorne called last night to see if we can go to Grand Caymen with them. We might have to sacrifice Korea for family time, especially this year. More about that if you call me sometime. Oh, wait, I'm still in rehearsals. Never mind! [lol] Much love!

Glad you had a lovely weekend. It has been a wonderful spring here so far. Your pictures of the pink blossoming trees reminded me of our front yard. We have three flowering cherry trees that are coating our front yard in pink snow this week. It is a glorious time of year to walk around and see something blooming everywhere you look. Lots of Love

You are a fabulous photography, my dear! What beautiful shots and exciting adventures. Way to make the most of your time there!!! As Nancy said, things are blossoming here, including the lilac bushes in my front yard, and it's just lovely. Yay spring!
