sick photoblog

it's like being in kindergarten again. once one kid got a cold, all kids got the cold. went to the doctor today, & i have a middle ear infection, swollen tonsils, and infected lungs, aka bronchitis. again. ~lol~ oh well. i have new strong antibiotics, so maybe this time it'll go away for good. lots of my kids have the same thing, i think. 'cept this time i think i might have given it to them. whoops.

went home from work & have been sitting in bed all day. can't handle it anymore. random photos for you:

rod in cheonho park. :)

a tiny part of cheonho market, near closing time.

at Red Mango in insadong. it's called the yummiest fruit yogurt in the world...

...and oh lordy, it really is. it's the smoothest frozen yogurt i've ever eaten, and puts all frozen yogurt in the US to positive shame. it has a hint of lemon flavor mixed with the tanginess of real plain yogurt... oh... it's to die for. here's a not super great photo of papingsu, a popular dessert here. don't know why it's not served at home. it's basically frozen yogurt over a bed of shaved ice, with your choice of toppings. i've had it with whole fruit and red beans, fruit and chocolate sauces, tapioca balls and fruit and strawberry sauce......... sorry. drooling.

close up.

~sigh~ these pictures are too dark and blurry to give the full Red Mango Yumminess effect. oh well. will just have to go back and take more pictures. ~lol~

kids!

basic 2.

l to r. judy, julie, helen, and jasmine. all super cute. jasmine gets a little hectic sometimes. she likes to tell on other people. judy frequently spaces out, and then when i call on her she jumps a mile in the air, points at her chest, and says "OOOOOOHHHH, me?!" :) julie is a quiet genius. helen never pays attention and sings songs to herslef all class while playing imaginary piano. ~lol~ oh man, they're funny. i don't know how elementary teachers do it, though. i'm so tired after this class. though, sometimes i'm tired from trying not to laugh. ^o^

joe, with his twisty fingers and adorable smile. he's like a 60 year old sweet little man in an 8 year old body.

haaaaaaarrrrrrryyyy! the picture says it all.

harry and joe are best buddies. they're always taking care of each other, being the only two males in a class with seven females, counting teacher.

they love the scary tv chick from the movie "the ring." at least, i think that's what they're doing. or maybe they're just your standard zombie. dunno, but they cornered me during break time. ~grin~ judy, harry, & sally, zombie-style.
alice and sally, happy.

peace, dude. nearly all koreans do this in their photos. am doing this when i go home. just wait.

junior 2.

HA! gotcha! caught fred sleeping.

ben! he has the cutest, hoarsest, highest-pitched cartoony voice i've ever heard. he literally sounds like a cartoon character. i love him and fred. they're my comic relief in this class, along with donald, robert, steven, peter, peter, malfoy (who used to be called sim, pronounced "shim," but really liked the bad guys in harry potter), and betty. this class makes me lose my voice sometimes from trying to get the guys to be quiet for a few minutes so the quiet girls can be heard.

quiet danny, with bully malfoy crouching behind. danny is the sweetest kid. malfoy (when i'm happy with him)/sim (when i'm yelling at him) is a handful. he's older than the other kids, and i don't think he realized how much bigger he is than they are. he's always trying to pretend fight, but he could really hurt someone. he's so obsessed with violence. yeeps.

cheonho.

random street in cheonho. going up.

going down.

looking up.

looking out.

my favorite sweet street food - hoteok ("ho-tauhk"). it's a doughy pancake filled with a brown sugar/nut mix fried in oil. holy yum.

it's served in paper dixie cups or in rectangles of cardboard. it's HOT. the syrup in the middle drips all over everything. the dixie cups make it a little easier to eat. a new stall just opened up in cheonho, and i found this one walking with rod last weekend near cheonho market. wh00t!

michelle's trying to teach me how to use the manual settings on my camera. i'm pretty stinky so far. here's a sample.

itaewon. (we went out for Greek food on saturday night. it was like being in heaven. it's so rare to eat anything other than korean, korean-chinese, or korean-japanese food. yummmmmmmmmmmmm.)

flash.

no flash.

black n' white.

michelle and i were laughing on saturday. we're food buddies here, and we both like to spend hours taking photos of boring things like alleys. or signs. or trees.

man, look at this guy's shirt. i wish i knew where he was from. should've asked. weird to see that bank logo in Seoul. ~lol~

enough. bed time. later!

Maybe you're allergic to Korea. Or teaching. Or something. I hope you feel better soon! My boss caught something from her daughter, and I'm hoping she stays out of my office and doesn't give it to me.

Just bought my 2007 calendar. Your b-day is July 27, right? The big three-oh next year. Maybe I'll have to stop calling people "kid" all the time.... Nah.

Love and miss you!!
