three days

i did go to everland on wednesday with my old co-workers J., G., and their co-worker J. here they are:

met them over in cheonho, my old neighborhood. it was so good to be back in cheonho. i've been homesick for it. no matter where i live in seoul, cheonho will always feel like home in seoul.

the bus ride from cheonho to everland takes about 80 minutes. we got there around 1 pm and stayed 'til around 9 pm.

highlights of the day:

~ a big Korean man in his 20s or 30s screaming at top volume before the ride even started... right into G's ear. he continued screaming every 5 seconds or so throughout the entire ride. sounded like a 12 year old girl at her most favorite-to-die-for pop star concert. piercing. shrill. utterly hilarious coming from such a large man.

~ this exhausted family taking a rest at a fast food joint. surrounded by loud, chattering families, they never woke, never moved. it's a little rude to call this a highlight. perhaps it's more of a bizarre sighting. they looked so out of place.

~ the safari ride. the animals freely roamed various areas, jurassic park style, while we sat on a bus jam-packed with small children. first stop... the lion pen. first thing we see... a male vigorously humping a female. all the korean mothers on the bus began frantically snapping pictures and moving their kids into better viewing position. second stop... the lion pen again. second thing we see... another male humping another female. when he finished, the female ran away and rolled on her back in the dirt. looked like she was glad to be rid of him. again, korean mothers snapping photos. little children laughing and pointing. J, G, J, and me red in the face, dying.

~ this photo of G and I on our favorite roller coaster:

the guy in the front is so funny! terrified guy, me and G being stoopid, and happy family in the back. i heart.

i liked this giant pig baby thing, too. it was wearing a cute red backpack. i think this was a petting zoo? some kind of zoo. they had skunks.

thursday i went hiking with people from the hostel. had a great day. the weather was beautiful, very clear and sunny. a little hot for hiking, but it was a lovely day. people at KoRoot are super fun.

close up. i wish i'd had my good camera. took my point and shoot. will go back sometime this fall with the other camera.

always mirrors, even on the tops of mountains. must look pretty, even when hiking. eep!

view from the top, panoramic. pan left to right...

friday night was M and H from France and T from Norway's last night, so several people went out for dinner in Sinchon and then drinking & clubbing in Hongdae. we went to a bar who's name i forget and then dancing at M2. here's a youtube video of M2. it's not great quality, but gives a general idea of what the place is like.

bulgogi!

after it's cooked for a bit, someone cuts it all up with scissors and voila, ready to eat! i hadn't had bulgogi in a really long time. it's marinated beef, mixed here with garlic, a green veggie, and clear noodles. deliciousness. ^^ (explained better here)

J (australia) and J (denmark)

T (norway) and K (korea)

J and T (norway). J is abnormally proud of his dimples. says he uses them to pick up women. ~lol~ he is a character. there are several characters staying here. it's been quite fun getting to know them.

J, doing his best dimpled pick-up look. me, imitating. how'd i do?

T (norway) and M (france)

hot

M and H (france). are they not lovely? they're lovely people inside and out, two of the nicest people i've met. they have two more weeks to travel through korea, then it's back to france.

today has been very quiet. it's been awesome. =) i've needed a little bit of alone time. moved to another room today and am all set up on a bottom bunk, blogging away.

it was good to dance last night. i love dancing. you can let out so much pent up stress and bother. i've been homesick and also worried about rod's visa, but worry no more, he has his number! he'll be here in one or two weeks. happy. :)

tonight i am going back to cheonho for my old co-worker's new co-worker J's last night out. (oi, that's a mouthful. eep.)

am going to try not to use people's names too much this time, in the interest of privacy. although, writing this post has been a bit of a pain, so i may just drop that and use names again. ~lol~ again, if you ever see yourself on here and want me to remove your name, photo, etc., please let me know.

i'm going to take a nap. or watch an episode of battlestar galactica.
will leave you with.... baconhenge. enjoy!

love,

~s
