dreamy

had a dream last night that i had just returned home, was still living in hudson, but had started a job at an office in minneapolis. i don't know how long i worked there, but at one point, i had to fill out a long, poorly written productivity survey. then my co-workers and i had to be interviewed about our survey responses on a plane (weird), and i got fed up. i jumped out of the plane, landed in a fog-covered city street, and walked back to hudson through rain, fog, ghetto streets, lakes, trees, and a jungle. decided i was going to go back to school be a teacher instead of work a corporate job.

i guess i don't want to go back to office life just yet. ~lol~

still no idea what i'm going to do next year. i am pretty sure i'll come back to korea, at least for a month or two, and perhaps try to teach private lessons. see how it goes. have to change my visa first.

my new photo site is still a work in progress, but here's the link anyway. will be adding more photos and videos as the year goes on. http://www.smochs.phanfare.com/

had a really nice weekend with rod. we had a mall date on Saturday night. ~lol~ like being teenagers. went to COEX, did a little shopping, ate mall food, were going to go to the aquarium but it closed earlier than we thought it would, and then went to see The Prestige, a strange, strange film. yesterday we did more shopping and went to pizza hut for dinner because i didn't feel like cooking. dang. pizza hut in korea is way better than pizza hut at home.
er. yeah. at first when i came here i wasn't going to do anything or get anything that i could find at home. although i've still not been to mcdonalds or any US fast food chain yet (woo hoo!), i do sometimes go to chilis or pizza hut or something from home. i've discovered that no matter how much i love korean food, i can't eat it 24/7 after having so much variety at home. oh well. i'm going to miss korean food when i go home. maybe i should start a 24 kim bap house.

last night i tried to make persimmon jam, but i didn't have any pectin. think we'll be eating lots of ice cream with persimmon syrup. ^o^ have been cooking more often lately. might have a cooking post soon.

halloween was fun at school. i picked up some halloween ribbons in hong kong to decorate my class, since most koreans don't celebrate halloween (except in academies taught by foreign teachers). my students on tuesday had all the fun, but the students on wednesday had a good time too. a few photos.

super-judy, basic 3.

by lisa, junior 4, age 14.

cute skeleton, with jodie, the cartoonist, trying to erase it before i took a photo. junior 4.

i wore a blue wig to work. three of my favorite students in my senior 4 class wanted to try on my wig at break time. this is my absolute favorite class, i love every student. i can't call them them kids, they're ages 13 - 16, and most of them are taller than me. they're so much fun. here are stephen, mark, and jay. none of them liked the wig.

Sara,
Though I'm glad you'll be back in the States, I'm very bummed that your adventures aren't quite going as planned- I hope you do get a chance to head back at least long enough to do some more traveling.

Do you think you will go back to school to be a teacher? I think you should consider it- you're a natural!

And by the way, once you come back to the states, if you ever get nostalgic for that feeling of being a foreigner, you can always come to Belgium, where the local folk will undoubtedly assume you're from another country. : )

Hey, I know that wig! Oh, wait. No, I know Becky's blue wig. Never mind. :P

No office work for you, ma'am! You should come and teach ESL classes here. They have those, ya know.

Election Day tomorrow--did you get your absentee ballot??
